Calcined petroleum coke is the product of petroleum coke calcined at high temperature. Petroleum coke calcination is an important process in the carbon production process. It is calcined at high temperature under the condition of isolating air to remove volatile matter and moisture from the raw materials. During the calcination process, the structure and element composition of various carbonaceous raw materials occur. A series of depth changes improve their physical and chemical properties, and then obtain calcined petroleum coke.
In appearance, calcined petroleum coke is irregularly shaped coke with a porous structure. After calcination, the pores of the carbon particles are more transparent and have black metallic luster. More than 98.5% of the elements are carbon.
The main purpose:
Calcined coke is divided into three types: low-sulfur, medium-sulfur, and high-sulfur.
Application of low-sulfur calcined coke: used as thermal insulation material and filler for the manufacture of graphite electrodes and special carbon products; used as a recarburizer or reducing agent in the metallurgical casting industry, as well as in the titanium industry;
The use of medium-sulfur calcined coke: generally used in aluminum smelting, mainly used for pre-baked anode and cathode used in electrolytic aluminum;
Application of high sulfur calcined coke: it can be used in chemical production, silicon carbide or as fuel for metal manufacturing, glass factory, etc.;
The main application field of calcined coke in my country is the electrolytic aluminum industry, accounting for more than 65% of the total consumption of calcined coke, followed by carbon, industrial silicon and other smelting industries. The use of calcined coke as fuel is mainly in cement, power generation , glass and other industries, the proportion is small.
