In EDM, the gap temperature between electrode and work piece is 2000 ~3000℃ due to partial discharge, so the electrode material is required to withstand high temperature. If the electrode material with low melting point can not be processed with high current, low processing speed and higher processing cost. Theoretically, tungsten or tungsten alloy as electrode material is the best, it has high strength, high density, melting point of nearly 3400℃, tungsten electrode in EDM, the actual loss is very small.
